A lot of people tell us they wish they’d done Martial Arts when they were younger. The older you get, the harder it will be to get your body moving, it’s true, but you’re never too old to start. As you get older your muscles tighten up, you get much less flexible and you pick up injuries much easier. Kids who start Martial Arts all tend to enjoy the jumping up in the air and screaming aspects but taking up hobbies such as Tae Kwon Do in adulthood gives a much deeper understanding of the history and traditions of what we do.
Tae Kwon Do has been practiced in the UK since 1967 and the UK has some of the best practitioners. The main focus of Tae Kwon Do is its traditional patterns, as the legs are the strongest part of the body we also spend time developing our kicking ability and flexibility. Sparring is the toughest and most important part of Tae Kwon Do requiring more physical preparation through cardio exercise and tech development. Both of these aspects of Tae Kwon Do also allow you to take your training further by entering competitions at a local and national levels, although there is absolutely no pressure to do this, the option is there if you want to set yourself further goals.
